Landmannalaugar and Hekla

The Landmannalaugar and Hekla tour starts by driving to the east from Reykjavik through the beautiful Þjórsárdalur valley, stopping at Hjalparfoss waterfall and Þjóðveldisbær (Viking house). Next, we will have a short coffee break at the highland center at Hrauneyjar. From there, we drive through scenic mountains and lava fields, and we will stop at the explosion crater Ljotipollur for a panoramic view before reaching Landmannalaugar. At Landmannalaugar, we will take a moment to relax and enjoy a bath in a warm natural pool next to a lava field. From Landmannalaugar, we drive through Domadalur, under the famous and active Mount Hekla volcano. If the weather allows, we will drive a truly rugged mountain track past lava fields and explosion craters along the volcano’s edge, 900 meters above sea level. From there, we can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding area before driving through rich farmlands back to Reykjavik.

Please remember to bring a bathing suit and a towel to bathe in the natural hot spring.
